Chronicles Chapter 25

David and the leaders assigned the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun to prophesy using harps, lyres, and cymbals. They counted how many people each job needed.

Asaph’s sons were Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asarelah. They worked under Asaph and made prophecies following the king’s instructions.

From Jeduthun: Jeduthun’s sons were Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six in total. They worked under their father Jeduthun, who played the harp to thank and praise God.

Heman had these sons: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamtiezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.

All these were Heman’s sons; he was the king’s prophet and spoke God’s messages. God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

All these were guided by their father to make music in God’s house, using cymbals, stringed instruments, and harps, to serve in God’s house following the king’s command to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.

The total number of musicians skilled in God’s songs, including their relatives, was 288.

They drew lots to take turns, from the least to the greatest, from the teacher to the student.
