Chapter 1
1 Adam, Seth, Enosh.
2 Kenan, Mahalaleel, Jared,
3 Enoch, Methuselah, Lemach.
4 Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
5 Japheth’s sons are Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
6 Gomer’s sons were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
7 Javan’s sons were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
8 Ham’s sons were Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.
9 Cush had sons named Seba, Havilah, Sabta, Raamah, and Sabtecha. Raamah had sons named Sheba and Dedan.
10 Cush had a son named Nimrod, who became very powerful on earth.
11 Mizraim had children named Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, and Naphtuhim.
12 And people from Pathrus, Casluh, who were the ancestors of the Philistines, and from Caphtor.
13 Canaan had Zidon, his first son, and Heth.
14 The Jebusite, the Amorite, and the Girgashite too,
15 The Hivite, the Arkite, and the Sinite,
16 The people from Arvad, from Zemar, and from Hamath.
17 Shem’s sons were Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, Aram, Uz, Hul, Gether, and Meshech.
18 Arphaxad had a son named Shelah, and Shelah had a son named Eber.
19 Eber had two sons: one was named Peleg, for during his time the earth was divided, and his brother was named Joktan.
20 Joktan had children named Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, and Jerah.
21 Hadoram, Uzal, and Diklah too,
22 Ebal, Abimael, and Sheba,
23 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab were all Joktan’s sons.
24 Shem, Arphaxad, Shelah,
25 Eber, Peleg, Reu,
26 Serug, Nahor, Terah.
27 Abram is Abraham.
28 Abraham’s sons: Isaac and Ishmael.
29 This lists their families: Ishmael’s first son was Nebaioth, followed by Kedar, Adbeel, and Mibsam.
30 Mishma, Dumah, Massa, Hadad, and Tema
31 Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah are Ishmael’s sons.
32 Abraham’s other wife Keturah had sons: Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah. Jokshan had two sons: Sheba and Dedan.
33 Midian’s sons were Ephah, Epher, Henoch, Abida, and Eldaah. They were all Keturah’s sons.
34 Abraham had a son named Isaac. Isaac’s sons were Esau and Israel.
35 Esau’s sons: Eliphaz, Reuel, Jeush, Jaalam, and Korah.
36 Eliphaz’s sons were Teman, Omar, Zephi, Gatam, Kenaz, Timna, and Amalek.
37 Reuel’s sons were Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah.
38 Seir’s sons were Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezar, and Dishan.
39 Lotan’s sons were Hori and Homam, and Timna was Lotan’s sister.
40 Shobal’s sons were Alian, Manahath, Ebal, Shephi, and Onam. Zibeon’s sons were Aiah and Anah.
41 Anah’s sons were Dishon. Dishon’s sons were Amram, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran.
42 Ezer’s sons were Bilhan, Zavan, and Jakan. Dishan’s sons were Uz and Aran.
43 These were the kings who ruled in Edom before any king ruled over Israel: Bela son of Beor, and his city was called Dinhabah.
44 After Bela died, Jobab, Zerah’s son from Bozrah, became king in his place.
45 After Jobab died, Husham from Temanite lands became ruler in his place.
46 When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in Moab’s fields, became king after him. His city was named Avith.
47 After Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah became the ruler in his place.
48 After Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth on the river became king in his place.
49 After Saul died, Baalhanan, Achbor’s son, became king in his place.
50 After Baalhanan died, Hadad became king. His city was named Pai, and his wife was Mehetabel, Matred’s daughter and Mezahab’s granddaughter.
51 Hadad also died. The leaders of Edom were: Leader Timnah, Leader Aliah, Leader Jetheth.
52 Leader Aholibamah, leader Elah, leader Pinon,
53 Chief Kenaz, Chief Teman, Chief Mibzar,
54 Leader Magdiel, leader Iram. These are the leaders of Edom.
