1 Chronicles
Chapter 2
1 These are Israel’s sons: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun.
2 Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, Asher.
3 Judah’s sons were Er, Onan, and Shelah. These three were born to him by Shua’s daughter, a Canaanite woman. Er, Judah’s first son, was wicked in God’s eyes, so God took his life.
4 Tamar, his daughter-in-law, gave birth to Pharez and Zerah for him. Judah had a total of five sons.
5 Pharez’s sons were Hezron and Hamul.
6 Zerah’s sons were Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Calcol, and Dara: five in total.
7 Carmi had a son named Achar, who caused trouble in Israel by sinning with the cursed item.
8 Ethan’s son was Azariah.
9 Hezron’s sons were Jerahmeel, Ram, and Chelubai.
10 Ram fathered Amminadab; and Amminadab fathered Nahshon, the leader of Judah’s descendants.
11 Nahshon had a son named Salma, and Salma had a son named Boaz.
12 Boaz had Obed, and Obed had Jesse.
13 Jesse had his first son Eliab, his second son Abinadab, and his third son Shimma.
14 Nethaneel was fourth, Raddai was fifth,
15 Ozem was the sixth, David was the seventh.
16 His sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. Zeruiah’s sons were Abishai, Joab, and Asahel, three in total.
17 Abigail gave birth to Amasa, and Amasa’s father was Jether the Ishmaelite.
18 Caleb, Hezron’s son, had kids with his wife Azubah and Jerioth. Their sons were Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon.
19 After Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath, who gave birth to Hur.
20 Hur had a son named Uri, and Uri had a son named Bezaleel.
21 Later, Hezron married the daughter of Machir, father of Gilead, when he was 60 years old, and she gave birth to Segub.
22 Segub was the father of Jair, who owned twenty-three cities in Gilead.
23 He captured Geshur and Aram with Jair’s villages and Kenath with its surrounding towns, a total of sixty cities. All these were the lands of Machir, Gilead’s father.
24 After Hezron died in Calebephratah, his wife Abiah had a son named Ashur, who became the founder of Tekoa.
25 Jerahmeel, Hezron’s oldest son, had these sons: Ram, his firstborn, Bunah, Oren, Ozem, and Ahijah.
26 Jerahmeel also had another wife named Atarah; she was Onam’s mother.
27 Ram’s firstborn Jerahmeel had sons: Maaz, Jamin, and Eker.
28 Onam’s sons were Shammai and Jada. Shammai’s sons were Nadab and Abishur.
29 Abishur’s wife was named Abihail, and she had two sons for him, Ahban and Molid.
30 Nadab’s sons were Seled and Appaim, but Seled died without having any kids.
31 Appaim’s sons were Ishi, Ishi’s sons were Sheshan, and Sheshan’s children were Ahlai.
32 Jada, the brother of Shammai, had two sons: Jether and Jonathan. But Jether died without having any children.
33 Jonathan’s sons were Peleth and Zaza. These were Jerahmeel’s sons.
34 Sheshan had only daughters, not sons. Sheshan’s servant was an Egyptian named Jarha.
35 Sheshan gave his daughter as a wife to Jarha, his servant, and she gave birth to a son named Attai.
36 Attai fathered Nathan, and Nathan fathered Zabad.
37 Zabad had a son named Ephlal, who had a son named Obed.
38 Obed had a son named Jehu, and Jehu had a son named Azariah.
39 Azariah had a son named Helez, and Helez had a son named Eleasah.
40 Eleasah had a son named Sisamai, and Sisamai had a son named Shallum.
41 Shallum had a son named Jekamiah, and Jekamiah had a son named Elishama.
42 Caleb’s brother Jerahmeel had sons. Mesha was the oldest, and he became the father of Ziph. Mareshah’s sons became the fathers of Hebron.
43 Hebron’s sons were Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema.
44 Shema had Raham, who became the father of Jorkoam, and Rekem had Shammai.
45 Shammai’s son was Maon, and Maon was Bethzur’s father.
46 Ephah, Caleb’s woman, had Haran, Moza, and Gazez; and Haran had Gazez.
47 Jahdai’s sons were Regem, Jotham, Gesham, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph.
48 Maachah, who was with Caleb, had two sons named Sheber and Tirhanah.
49 She also gave birth to Shaaph, who was Madmannah’s ancestor, Sheva, who was Machbenah’s ancestor, and the ancestor of Gibea; Caleb’s daughter was Achsa.
50 Caleb, Hur’s son and Ephratah’s oldest, had these sons: Shobal started Kirjathjearim.
51 Salma was the ancestor of Bethlehem; Hareph was the ancestor of Bethgader.
52 Shobal, the father of Kirjathjearim, had sons: Haroeh and some of the Manahethites.
53 The families of Kirjathjearim were the Ithrites, the Puhites, the Shumathites, and the Mishraites. From these families came the Zareathites and the Eshtaulites.
54 Salma’s children included Bethlehem, the people of Netophah, Ataroth, Joab’s family, half of the people of Manahath, and the Zorites.
55 The families of writers who lived in Jabez were the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and the Suchathites. They are the Kenites who come from Hemath, the ancestor of the Rechab family.
